The history of 58 Barre Street is a long one. We are sure some members of the Montpelier Senior Activity Center remember going to school there when it was St. Michael’s High School as our family did.
We are so pleased that the City has taken this opportunity to write a new chapter in this history with the long overdue renovation and return of the Center to a renewed home.
Because the population eligible for attending Senior Centers is more than doubling, senior centers are critical in helping communities live better and improve the vitality of so many of our citizens. Diverse activities promote mental, physical and social well-being that help all of us who are aging stay healthier and independent longer.
The Montpelier Senior Activity Center has played and will continue to play a vital role in improving the well being of our entire community.
There is a need here to close a 12% financing gap to cover the renovation costs for the Center. We hope that you will join us in making it possible for the Center to continue to fulfill its essential mission.
